School Council & Eco Warriors

Every year in September our children learn about the role and responsibilities of being members of the School Council and Eco Warriors. They think about whether this is a role they would like to undertake in school and then write a speech that they give to their class based on their qualities. Classes elect their School Council representative and Eco Warrior representative who work together to listen to their classmates’ views and share this at regular meetings to help to improve our school.

We are very proud to be a level 1 Rights Respecting School and actively promote the UNICEF Rights of the Child.  In our school we believe that everyone has an opinion that is valued, that all children have the right to be heard and to be listened to (Article 12: the child who is capable of forming his or her own views has the right to express those views freely in all matters affecting the child, the views of the child being given due weight in accordance with the age and maturity of the child.)

Our School Council and Eco Warriors meet fortnightly to share ideas and organise events. Fund raising is important to our School Councillors and Eco Warriors; they have organised activity afternoons to support Children In Need, Sport Relief, Comic Relief and Project Gambia.

We realise the importance of working together to improve our environment, recycling is a priority in our school, we weekly collect and recycle paper and cardboard.

Our School council and Eco Warriors listen to our ideas and work together.
