Forest School
Our Rufford 'Off-Road' Route
At Rufford Primary School, all of our children participate in Forest School. Our Forest School uses the woods and forest as a means to build independence and self-esteem in children. Vital skills such as teamwork and problem solving are also learnt. The woodland environment is also used to learn about mathematics and communication. All of these skills are transferable and support children's attitudes and learning across the curriculum
The children have the freedom to explore the outdoors, make dens, build a bug hotel, maintain their outdoor area, use natural materials to make arts and crafts and many other things! The ethos of Forest Schools is to allow children the time and space to develop skills, interest and understanding through a range of activities which provide practical, hands-on experiences in a natural environment.
Our children will also learn to use tools to make items and cook over a camp fire!
